Overview

This site links to a number of resources that will be of interest to people with an interest in data analysis (econometrics, data science) and coding.

Econometrics

I have been teaching econometrics units since I completed my PhD as a Time-Series econometrician. In my teaching I have been using elements of classroom flipping such that I can spend more time in the classroom on motivating students by focusing on intuition and applications. This is facilitated by providing substantial elements of content through video clips. Many of these are collected on my YouTube Channel.

I am enthusiastic about helping students to develop practical coding skills (currently mainly in R). To support this me and colleagues are collating some resources which guide students throuh the learning process in R on the Econometric Computing Learning Resource - ECLR webpage.

Data Sources

Data source Collections

Some organisation provide access to a range of datasets collated from different sources:

  • Consumer Data Research Center (e.g. Election Data, Residence-Workplace and travel mode data from Census, Council Tax Maps, Index of Multiple Deprivation, Population density)
  • The UK Data Service (Census data, International macrodata, Qualitative/mixed methods and UK surveys)
  • Our World in Data (Data Stories with good links to data)
  • St. Louis FRED Database. A databse maintained by the St. Louis FED with economic and financial data.
  • Statitsa is a website that collates data from a range of different sources and countries. With your university login you have access to this database.

You could also browse a range of websites which link to a variety of datasets:
